“May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rain fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of his hand.”

Chicago is known as the melting-pot of the Midwest with a variety of cultures and nationalities represented, including a very strong Irish contingent (as anyone who’s been around for a St. Patrick’s Day parade already knows).  We’ve been lucky to photograph a few Chicago Irish weddings already – I know there’s a leprechaun pun in there somewhere – so when our good friend Melanie recommended Sean and Maggie to us, we knew we’d be a perfect fit.  We had such a good time shooting their Chicago engagement session and couldn’t wait for their Irish wedding celebration!

A beautiful spring morning greeted us as we arrived at Maggie’s family home to start off our day.  We found all the girls inside, hair perfectly coiffed by Salon Buzz and finishing up their final preparations while laughing at the crazy antics of their adorable pooch.  We set off to capture some pretty detail shots and discovered a literal mountain of awards and medals that Maggie and her sisters won in Irish dance competitions – a hint at the reception entertainment coming later.

Maggie’s lacy Allure gown had elegantly simple lines that showcased her natural beauty.  And her sparkly accessories were a great pick to complement her gown and gorgeous curls.  After a spritz of perfume and one more mirror check, we were ready for the ceremony.

Sean and Maggie were married at the beautiful St. Michael Catholic Church in Orland Park, IL, surround by all of their family and friends.

We had a great time shooting the bridal party portraits with Sean and Maggie’s friends on the grounds of the McDonald’s Campus.  The rustic feel of the park settings were the perfect complement to this wedding party’s glamour.

The reception was held at The Hyatt Lodge in OakBrook and the couple made sure that their guests were treated to a great party.  We adored the vintage birdcages in the centerpieces, and the charming birch tree cake from Lezza Spumoni and Desserts was topped with sweet lovebirds.   After a tasty dinner we were wowed by an Irish Dance performance that featured the bride and her sisters.  Even better?  The girls’ mother handmade all of their costumes.  We are continually amazed by the talent of our couples and their friends & family.  Sean and Maggie chose a live band for their reception and Front of House kept the party rocking throughout the evening.

All of that revelry and merriment can stimulate the appetite, which is why Maggie and Sean chose to offer a late-night cheeseburger snack for their guests – thoughtful and awesome!

Thank you so much, Sean and Maggie, for allowing us to capture and document your special day.  We wish you all the best and hope to see you again soon!
